U. B. P. Chelliah, an Indian national and development specialist, coordinated major relief and reconstruction programs in Southern Asia and the middle East. Based in Jordan in late 1990, he directed various activities of the Middle East Council of Churches to assist Jordanian and third-country national. In Washington, DC, he has served as a consultant for the World Bank and the World Council of Churches and currently works for the Bread for the World Institute and the Middle East Office of Church World Service/National Council of Churches.
