Eshetu Chole teaches in the Department of Economics at Addis Ababa University. Following undergraduate work there, he received advanced economics degrees from the University of Illinois and Syracuse. He is active in numerous professional associations and serves as executive secretary of the Organization for Social Science Research in East Africa and as editor of the Eastern Africa Social Science Research Review. He has written extensively on issues of economics and development in Ethiopia and Africa and has served as a consultant to UN agencies, non-governmental groups, and research institutions.
