James O. C. Jonah is Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs at the Untied Nations in New York. A career international civil servant who has traveled widely on UN troubleshooting missions, he was formerly Assistant Secretary-General for Research and Collection of Information, for Field Operational and External Support Activities, and for Human Resources Development. A national of Sierra Leone, he coordinated activities relating to the Second Decade for Action to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination.
