Randolph C. Kent served as United Nations humanitarian coordinator in Rwanda between October 1994 and November 1995. He also served as special adviser on post-conflict recovery to the under secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, deputy coordinator of the UN Special Emergency Program for the Horn of Africa, and coordinator of the Inter-Agency Support Unit of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee. He received his doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science in international economic history. He is the author of Anatomy of Disaster Relief: The International Network in Action (Pinter, 1987).
