George A. Lopez is a faculty fellow at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and professor of government and international studies at the University of Notre Dame. His research concerns humanitarianism, violence and the use of force, economic sanctions, and human rights issues. Most recently, he coedited, with David Cortright, Economic Sanctions: Panacea or Peacebuilding in a Post-Cold War World? (1995) and with Nancy Myers, Peace and Security: The Next Generation (1997). He serves on the editorial boards of The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Human Rights Quarterly, and Mershon International Studies Review.
