Debarati G. Sapir is professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at the Catholic University of Louvain, where she also directs the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters. She also serves as external advisor to the European Community Humanitarian Office. Her research focus has been the application of quantitative methods for policymaking and operational research, applied research in epidemiology, in health care, and in nutritional aspects of famines, earthquakes, and armed conflicts.
